Description: The City of Veneta is requesting proposals from qualified consultants to conduct a broadband system study. The City is interested in using its existing conduit and additional assets to incentivize high-quality internet service providers (ISPs) to deploy throughout the City.

The City requests that the selected consultant inventory, map, and evaluate the City’s 21,060 linear feet of existing conduit. The consultant will also identify, inventory, and map locations within the City of Veneta where new ISPs would be unlikely to deploy due to prohibitive cost. The City of Veneta plans to build conduit in these “market failure” neighborhoods and locations, effectively reducing the initial capital investment required to reach the aforementioned locations, and incentivizing ISP deployment throughout the City. The consultant will provide an estimate of the cost to build the previously described conduit in “market failure” neighborhoods or locations. The City is not requesting a technical design at this time. The consultant will deliver a written report detailing their findings to City staff at the conclusion of their study.
