on-call Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) Services. Agency is currently examining its office culture, organizational policies and procedures, and exploring various ways to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment. The Agency is seeking to foster a diverse, inclusive, and equitable (DEI) workplace that ensures all Agency employees feel safe and welcomed for who they are. At the same time, the Agency is also seeking to better integrate DEI, Environmental Justice, and Racial Justice (DEIJ) considerations and best practices into agency programs to better serve the public. The Oregon Legislature has adopted policies and programs related to agency Racial and Environmental Justice work.
Pursuant to the State of Oregon DEI Action Plan, the Agency is seeking to engage in these process steps:
1. Know: Identify systemic and institutional barriers that hinder progress toward a more diverse and inclusive workforce.
2. Engage: Work within the agency, across the enterprise when applicable, and with communities to create meaningful, intentional, and inclusive processes for change to result.
3. Act: Develop and implement solutions to address barriers to improve policy, performance, and service delivery to all Oregonians.
4. Reflect: Share, connect, and collaborate to expand and scale up efforts.
The Agency is new to many aspects of DEIJ work, with the Agency forming and holding its first DEI Team meeting in 2021. Since then, the Agency has looked to increase its efforts to understand and integrate DEI and environmental and racial justice (DEIJ) considerations and best practices.
