SATELLITE TAG SPECIFICATIONS
We need a pop-up archival tag that is capable of being externally attached to a small animal and automatically release at a pre-programmed date. The tag must collect data on vertical habitat use (depth/pressure), external temperature and light level to geolocate the animal daily throughout an up to 12-month deployment. The tags must be customizable in terms of customizable (data collection rates and summary parameters) and release dates. The tags must have the capability to transmit the data, or some customizable processed summaries, remotely if the tag cannot be retrieved. The full archival dataset can be downloaded if the tag is retrieved. The physical tags must have an automatic wet/dry on-switch and be linked with the Argos network for retrieval/transmissions. The tag must also have a mortality release in the event the animal dies prior to scheduled release date.
