GENERAL INFORMATION:

The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to procure services for mouse genotyping for the research department at the VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS) for the base year and four option years.

See the attached Statement of Work below.

STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW)
as of 01/04/2024

1. Contract Title. Mouse Genotyping Service

2. Background.

The science achieved in the Hutchens lab relies on small animal research. There are multiple mouse models and mouse genotypes required to perform the work. Understanding the mouse genotype is vital for scientific rigor during experiments as well as for breeding and colony maintenance. This contract is required for mouse genotyping. Genotyping is required the following mouselines:

3. Scope.

The general scale of work covered by this contract is the receiving and processing of samples, and communicating genotyping results produced from the analysis for mouse genotypes. In short it is for a service and the service is genotyping. It is unknown if the work is performed across the building or VISN, this contract is for the Hutchens lab specific use. Different labs may rely on different processes for genotyping strains.

4. Specific Tasks.

Task 1: real time PCR genotyping of all strains including transgenic and knock-out, knock-in mutations, single nucleotide polymorphisms
Taqman based assay with primer and 2 fluorescent labeled proves for real time PCR detection
Duplicate allele testing including housekeeping gene
2/3 sample storage for retesting
Results in 72 hours
Results delivered online
Task 2: assay
Access to assay database
Assay design
Assay development
Task 3: genetic monitoring
Other: shipping costs, shipping supplies, including wellplate and account access and account support.

5. Performance Monitoring (if applicable).

Contractor performance will be monitored by intermittent comparison of PCR results between the Contractor and lab PCR tests.

6. Security Requirements.

The contractor employees shall not have access to VA sensitive or computer information and will not require routine access to VA Facilities. The contractor employees shall require intermittent access only and will be escorted by VA employees while at VA Facilities. No background investigation is required.
7. Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE)/Government-Furnished Information (GFI).

The contractor will not require any government-furnished equipment, government-furnished information. The contractor will not require any facilities from the government.

8. Other Pertinent Information or Special Considerations.

a. Identification of Possible Follow-on Work.

Additional, yet-to-be determined mouse strains or species may be added to account s current list of approved strains.

b. Identification of Potential Conflicts of Interest (COI).

No potential for conflict of interest.

9. Risk Control

There are no issues of safety, patient issues, or infection control issues to address in the genotyping of mouse tail samples.

10. Place of Performance.

Work will be performed at the contractor s site.

11. Period of Performance.

The government requires a 12-month contract, from the contract award date, for the base year and four option years.

Contract to run in parallel with VA Merit Award funding project that requires the genotyping service.

12. Delivery Schedule.

Results available within 72 hours unless 24 hours option indicated.
